Ali Abu Mohammad

Ali Abu Mohammad (Persian: علی ابومحمد) was a man from Karaj in Alborz Province, west of Tehran. The Iran Human Rights Society's list of 662 people killed in the 1401 protests records his surname as Abu Ahmad (ابواحمد).

On 12 Aban 1401 (3 November 2022), during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising, he was killed by security forces' gunfire in Karaj. That day thousands of people tried to reach Behesht-e Sakineh cemetery in Karaj to mark the fortieth day after the death of Hadis Najafi, and witnesses told BBC News that security forces fired on the mourners. HRANA's report on the first 82 days of the protests lists Mehran Shekari, Nima Noori and Mohammad Amin Hashmatian among those killed in Karaj on 3 November. The lists that name Ali Abu Mohammad do not say where in the city he was shot or whether he was among the mourners.

The Iran Human Rights Society's 662 list gives him as no. 246, “Ali Abu Ahmad, from Karaj, killed by security agents' fire, 12 Aban”, and the society's later consolidated list under Alborz Province gives “Ali Abu Mohammad, from Karaj, by gunfire, 12 Aban”. The National Council of Resistance of Iran's uprising bulletin of December 2022 lists him as no. 370, and its cumulative list of February 2023 as no. 373, Karaj, 3 November 2022. Persian Wikipedia's table of the 1401 dead and the Shahidan Ghiyam memorial record the same name, city and date. The lists do not give his age.
