Matin Nasri

Matin Nasri (Persian: متین نصری; Kurdish: مەتین نەسری) was a nineteen-year-old Kurd from Sanandaj who was doing his compulsory military service during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising. On 8 November 2022, Hana Human Rights Organization reported that he had been killed in recent days in a suspicious manner at his place of service. An informed source told Hana he had been threatened with death for refusing his superiors' orders to take part in suppressing protesters.

Security forces put heavy pressure on his family, barred them from speaking to the media, and declared the cause of death to be cardiac arrest. He is buried in section 12, known as the martyrs' section, of Behesht-e Mohammadi Cemetery in Sanandaj, where the grave record gives his death as 17 Aban 1401 (8 November 2022). On the first anniversary, despite a heavy security presence, people gathered at his grave to remember him. He is remembered among the Kurdish conscripts who would not turn their weapons on their own people.
